ADULT COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Saco River Health Services provides support for adults over 18 years of age with a diagnosis of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Individuals are presented with resources to obtain and enhance life experience within their community. Our Direct Support Professionals encourage each individual to engage in social activities and community integration. Therapeutic activities are identified through the Person Centered Plan process with the focus of the individual’s needs and desires. Therapeutic activities include:
- teach/support health and wellbeing skills
- explore community resources and opportunities
- encourage and support participation in Special Olympic events
- access career centers, department stores, post office and banks
- visits to parks, walking trails, and other cultural trips
- teach/support money management skills
- facilitate social interactions/natural supports
- learning safety skills (crossing the street, getting support, self-protection
- volunteering opportunities
- teach/support personal hygiene and appearance skills
- community connections-Libraries, museums, theaters, and other areas of interest
- introduce new community settings
- encourage participation in therapeutic games, hobbies, outdoor/indoor sports
Our staff are well trained and have numerous background checks before they enter the home including criminal background checks. Our staff are insured and bonded. They have supervision on a regular basis to ensure that they are following the individual care plan designed for their client.
IN HOME SUPPORT
This program is for adults with intellectual / developmental disabilities who are interested in learning to support and maintain an independent living situation. Areas of skill development include grocery shopping, meal planning and prep, general housekeeping, budgeting and other maintenance activities.
